“Energy Efficiency”, “Carbon Footprint”, “Green”, “Eco Friendly”. You’re probably just as confused by the new ‘save the planet’ jargon as the rest of us. But while the world cooks itself and world leaders have their fingers poised over the big red button that promises to destroy humanity, you can do something simple to help save the world.
No, it doesn’t involve squeezing into some colourful spandex that would make Mr Motivator drool, nor does it involve turning off all your lights and living in perpetual darkness in a hope to save electricity. Let us introduce to you; The Eco Button. This little button sits quietly on your desk, powered by the USB port it illuminates (as gentle reminder for you to press it). When nature calls, or you want to go make a cuppa, simply click the ecobutton and your computer will switch to an eco mode which will run your monitor and hard drives on a measly 1.8 watts of power, far less than your regular computer standby mode.
Once you’ve woken the computer up again with the touch of any button, the Eco Button software will show you exactly how much CO2 you’ve saved, as well as how much money you’ve shaved off your leccy bill. It keeps a tally too so that you can see how much money you’ve saved since installing the button.
This little button is a brilliant and easy way of saving money and will make you feel like a bit of a superhero as you save the world one click at a time!
